Hybrids in flower – May 2026

Chalk Milkwork looking superb all over the site – watch for Common Milkwork (more mauve or pink) mixed in with them

I went up to the site on Monday and the hybrids were in good flower but no signs of Lady Orchid this year and the Monkey Orchids seemed quite stunted and slowed down by the dry weather over the last month. One of the worst weather effects fo the orchids is to have a Spring drought and that’s what 2026 is looking like at the moment. I’m hoping the weekend actually brings some rain because it’s parched up there.

Over on slope 4 the Pasque Flowers were looking a bit dry but there were about 20 in flower, which is a good number for this time of year – possibly held over by the recent cold weather.
